Why is Dust Control so Important for Construction Sites?

4/14/2020

Construction sites sometimes get a bad rap when it comes to uncontrolled dust. Neglecting to control dust on construction worksites can cause dangerous working conditions and respiratory issues for workers. Construction sites must be compliant with government regulations in order to ensure that they are limiting their workers’ exposure to this potentially harmful dust.
Construction dust is a general term used to describe what one might find on a construction site that may be created by demolitions, vehicle traffic, and site preparation, to name a few. There are three main types of construction dust: silica dust, wood dust and lower toxicity dusts. Controlling these types of dust is critical to maintaining a healthy and safe job site.

Dust control on a construction site is extremely important. If an effective method is not utilized, numerous problems can arise including respiratory health problems, equipment malfunction and fines. The airborne dust can contribute health problems for not only construction workers, but also for those living in nearby areas.

Luckily, the issue of dust on construction sites can be controlled and Environmental Products & Applications, Inc. can help. Over the years, EP&A, Inc. have developed dust control polymers that work effectively and deliver clients maximum value on their investment.

The Envirotac Product Line is applied over the ground and extends down into the soil and bonds the soil particles in place. The Envirotac Product Line of dust control polymers reduce fugitive dust emission effectively and are ideal for construction sites and are commonly used on construction sites to control dust and reduce water. One application of an the Envirotac Product Line will last years and cost nearly one penny per square foot. Additionally, after one application you will eliminate the need for a dedicated crew to control dust related issues onsite, such as watering and equipment breakdowns related to dust.

In addition to controlling dust, sediment control is another major concern for construction sites. Many times, when it rains the sediment can leach and leave site via drains and gutters. A light application of the Envirotac Product Line will keep the area in place and protect it from rain and wind.
